To be a volunteer

Do you want to help us during the River Rafting or during our festival? Then you’ve come to the right place! You can apply HERE between 22 Februari and 5 March. We have two types of volunteers, rafting volunteers and festival volunteers.

You decide on your own which type of volonteer you want to work as, when you want to work and how many shifts you work. Rafting Volunteers work during Valborg (April 30th) and get free entry to Östgöta Nation's Champagne Gallop!

Being a rafting volunteer cannot be combined with rafting. To read more about the different types of rafting volunteer check the tab under “Rafting Volunteer”.Festival Volunteers can work shifts during the festival 19th–27th April, the rigging up on April 15th and the rigging down on April 29th.

Being festival volunteer can easily be combined with rafting, as well as rigging up and rigging down volunteer. To read more about the different types of rafting volunteer check the tab under “Festival Volunteer”.

No matter what type of volunteer you work as, you will get food and a soda during your shift. You will get to attend an appreciation gasque for free if you work either two shifts during the festival, one shift during the rafting or as a raft building volunteer.

Speaking Swedish is only a requirement for guard volunteers; for all other positions, speaking English works great! As a volunteer you have to attend the volunteer education on either the 8th of April, which will be held in Swedish, or on the 9th of April which will be held in English. If you have any questions regarding the volunteer positions, please contact zakir.rizvi@utn.se!

FAQ

Gear volunteer

Feeling like being a volunteer but also keen on hanging out at the construction site, watchingyour friends attempt to build their rafts? Then, Geer volunteer is the gig for you!As a Gear volunteer, your main task is to stroll around the area and ensure that my stuff is in place and make sure everything goes smoothly, more or less. Other duties might include cleaning up the oh-so-flying-away foam or supervising our oh-so-fragile styrofoam cutters. Additionally, you get to chill in a deck chair and make sure no one brings anything illegal onto the premises. If the weather is nice, a seriously fresh tan is promised!  In short, a laid-back work shift for those who just want to vibe, watch people, and laugh at their crazy raft ideas.

Lots of happy children will visit Ångan, and as a Duck Day Volunteer you will make sure these kids have a fun day by assisting Ank with different activities. You can choose to work morning or afternoon or why not both? So bring your best mood and apply to be a Duck Day Volunteer!

RaftCrafting volonteer

As a Raft Building Volunteer you are Flotts favorite, and get to use your creative side to work hands on building a company raft. Each group will be given a design and instructions from the company owning the raft. Raft building volunteers will work in groups of 4, and decide for themself when they work and build the raft. A big recommendation is to gather a crew of pleasant friends and apply together as RaftCraft volunteers, and have a fun time building a raft together. Raft building volunteers will have to take part in the first part of the rafting education, where you are educated in how to build the raft as well as how to handle the tools at the construction area.
